All
about a bedsheet and its different materials.
A bedsheet is an important aspect without which a bed would look
incomplete. Even though a quality mattress and a blanket on top
of it really make the bed look amazing, it would always look
incomplete without a bedsheet.
There are various types of bedsheets, which mean people have a
lot of options to choose from. However, whatever you look for,
always make sure you are looking at bedsheets that are
cotton-made only. This reason cotton out-performs any other kind
of fabric is because it is known to be good for air circulation
and provides the utmost comfort
There
are two types of bedsheets:
Fitted Sheet
A fitted sheet is brought to accommodate the mattress. Its
corners are elastic which help in perfectly adjusting to the
mattress. You however need to be very particular about the size,
as you may be able to fit a short-fitted sheet to a mattress,
but it would keep coming off the mattress since the fitting
would be too tight. In case it is too loose, you would not be
able to get a good night’s sleep since sheets will have extra
layers hanging on the bed.
Flat Sheet
A flat sheet is usually placed between the mattress and the
blankets on top. A lot of people do not make use of these
sheets, as they chose to make use of a comforter, which ideally
goes on top of a flat sheet. The best thing to do is to go for
these or a light blanket in the summer, and in the winter, you
could throw in a comforter on top of it.
What is the Ideal Thread Count for Your Bed
Sheets?
Few things rival the joy of sinking into a bed adorned with
premium-quality sheets. Optimal sheets are synonymous with
restful slumber, and it's imperative not to compromise on their
quality. Many customers believe that bed sheets boasting a
higher thread count offer enhanced comfort.
Understanding Thread Count:
Thread count refers to the number of threads woven into one
square inch of fabric and serves as a standard measure of bed
sheet quality. Essentially, it represents the total count of
threads—both horizontally and vertically—within the fabric. A
higher thread count is achieved by densely weaving more threads
into a single square inch of fabric.
Versatile Styling with Duvet Covers:
Imagine a duvet cover as akin to a large pillowcase for your
duvet. Duvets offer a touch of luxury as they can be
effortlessly swapped in and out, allowing for quick style
changes. Moreover, duvet covers are excellent for setting a
tranquil ambiance. For instance, if you're seeking a cozy night
in, we recommend opting for the Hotel Collection 100% Cotton
Percale Duvet Cover Set to create a serene atmosphere.
Alternatively, you can evoke the essence of a beach vacation by
adorning your duvet with super soft 400 Thread Count Sateen
duvet covers, enabling you to swiftly alter your mood.
Optimal Number Of Threads:
So, is there a number of threads that can really improve the
quality of bedding? For percale beddings, thread count between
200 and 300 is ideal. For sateen sheets, looking for sheets with
thread count between 300 and 600. Sheets with a higher thread
count will not always improve the quality of the bedding, but
will make the sheets heavier and possibly rougher. When there
are more threads, they must be woven tightly, which results in a
smaller space between the threads. The smaller the space between
the threads, the less airflow, which reduces the breathability
of the fabric unless very thin threads are used, such as those
made of 100% extra-long staple combed cotton. With 300-400
thread count beddings, you can achieve the perfect softness,
comfort and luxury that your body needs to rest.
Next, we talk about the different types of
materials these bedsheets are made of
Polyester Sheets
A bedsheet is not made of polyester entirely, but is combined
with another fabric. This is because polyester is in itself a
very itchy fabric and is stiff, so it is not as comfortable as
compared to the fabrics.
Bamboo Sheets
Because of the material, people have formed a common
misconception that these sheets would be uncomfortable. But
bamboo sheets are actually made of rayon. This means that during
the process of the bamboo being made into a fabric, the
resulting sheet is smooth and silky.
This process
however involves harmful chemicals, which even though leaves no
trace of any once the process is done, is not a very
environment-friendly method.
Cotton Sheets
This type of sheets is the best as cotton is always the best fabric to use when it comes to a bedsheet. Most of the stores sell cotton sheets are they are always in great demand, so you do not have to worry about where to find them. The reason these sheets are so famous is because they remain to stay cool even in the hot summers, and even if you sweat or the sheet gets dirty, it is very easy to wash. Just throw them into the washing machine, and they will come out as new.

BLOG TOWELS
Your towel size buying guide
Towels come in all shapes and sizes and each one will serve a certain purpose. Here are the most common sizes and what they are used for:
- 30cm x 30cm. These are face towels.
- 40cm x 60cm. These towels are used most commonly as guest towels.
- 50cm x 90cm. This is the common size of hand towels.
- 70cm x 125cm. This is the size of a bath towel.
- 90cm x 170cm. As the largest variety commonly available, these are bath sheets.
Finding the perfect towels for you
GSM, or grams per square meter, is the measure of the fabric’s weight and directly relates to how soft and absorbent a towel is. GSM is one of the main specifications you’ll see in a towel’s product description and you can think of it like a sheet’s thread count, though not all manufacturers will list it. GSM typically ranges from 300 to 900, and generally speaking, the higher the GSM, the plusher, thirstier and more luxurious the towel will feel.
As you can see, there are a large variety of different towels that vary in quality depending on the GSM and range you choose. If you operate a high-end hotel then you will want to stock guest towels that are 600GSM or more and are good quality. However, if you don't have the budget for these more expensive towels, then lower GSM ranges of towels will still do the job perfectly well. At Ghometex we stock a range of towels suited to the needs of all kinds of businesses and also for large families. If you can’t find the sort of towel you are looking for.
